About
Our Mission
At CITTAM RETREAT, our mission is to raise human consciousness, awaken the sleeping spirit within, and contribute to global harmony through individual transformation.
Led by Kamal (Kamaleshwaran Ketheeswaran), our community is devoted to sharing the essential wisdom and practices of yoga to support a healthy, balanced, and conscious way of living. Through authentic teachings rooted in tradition and enriched by modern understanding, we guide students toward deeper self-awareness and sustainable wellbeing.
We offer a variety of workshops, retreats, and immersive programs designed to nurture physical vitality, mental clarity, and spiritual growth. Our intention is not only to teach postures, but to share the philosophy, science, and transformative power behind yoga — enabling each student to deepen their life experience, expand their knowledge, and realize their highest potential.
Meet Kamal
First International Yogi From Srilankan Tamil Community
Kamaleshwaran Ketheeswaran
Kamal Ketheeswaran’s journey is one of transformation — from the shadows of civil war in Sri Lanka to becoming a guide for inner peace and awakened living. Born in Vavuniya in 1990, his early experiences of displacement and survival ignited a lifelong devotion to healing humanity through consciousness and discipline.
At just sixteen, Kamal committed himself to the rigorous path of traditional Ashtanga Yoga under the guidance of Bhishmacharya Dr. T.A. Krishna. By eighteen, he had become the youngest yoga teacher in South India and the first internationally accredited yogi within Sri Lanka’s Tamil community — a milestone that marked the beginning of his leadership in the field of authentic yoga.
Blending classical yogic philosophy with formal studies in Yoga Therapy and Naturopathy, Kamal developed a teaching style that is both deeply traditional and intelligently modern. His background in software development and financial analysis further refined his structured, results-oriented approach — offering students not only inspiration, but clarity and measurable transformation.
After founding K2 Yoga in 2016 and teaching distinguished clients across India and Sri Lanka, he expanded his expertise through advanced Vinyasa and Yin Yoga studies with respected international teachers. In 2019, he established Now Yoga Begins, a sanctuary for serious seekers ready to elevate their practice beyond the physical.
Today, through Cittam Retreats with 20 years of teaching experience and teaching more 13,000 International students, Kamal curates immersive, high-impact experiences designed to awaken dormant potential, restore energetic balance, and guide individuals toward mastery of mind, body, and spirit.
His work is not simply yoga.
It is a disciplined path to self-realization and soul growth.
Yoga is not my profession—it is my devotion.
For many years, I carried the title of a professional yoga teacher, but it never felt like a profession to me. Deep in my heart, I knew it was something much more. Through years of meditation and devotion to Lord Shiva, I came to a profound realization: just as I am a devoted student of Lord Shiva, I am also a devoted teacher to my students.
Teaching yoga is not a career for me. It is an act of devotion, service, and prayer.
I have dedicated more than five years to discovering this truth. Every class I teach is an opportunity to offer my practice with sincerity, to share what has been given to me, and to help awaken peace, awareness, and harmony in the world.
Yoga is not what I teach—it is the way I serve.

Review of Cittam Retreat Hathrina
Dear Kamal, I’ve been thinking a lot about you during the past weeks. I just finished my 200h Yoga teacher training in Rishikesh in India and returned back home to Germany.
I remember exactly how you told me last year that I should meditate everyday and that first I have to learn how to sit with myself. I thought about these words so often during the past year. But I didn’t really know what to do with myself back home and how to start with.
In India I started to understand what you meant. Your words became my mantra and I learned to sit, I had wonderful meditations, felt so much joy afterwards and I learned so much about my body and mind. I want to thank you for sharing your knowledge with me, even if at that time I didn’t realized what an impact your energy will have on my life. I’m so grateful I met you. I opened a new Instagram account to share my Yoga, mind and life path, it’s called hatharina.
I had the privilege of working with Kamaleshwaran Ketheeswaran, an exceptional yoga instructor who helped me recover from severe, immobilizing pain. Before meeting him, I had tried everything — strong painkillers, a Voltaren injection, and cupping therapy — but nothing truly helped.
Through a patient and highly professional process, Kamaleshwaran guided me twice a day for two weeks, including meditation sessions. Little by little, the pain faded, my mobility returned, and I finally felt like myself again. I even found the confidence to go back to surfing and dancing.
I’m deeply grateful for his dedication and support, and I’m certain he can help and inspire anyone who trains with him. 🙏
Sincerely,
Marsell Einy

Hello :). Im good, I wanted to write you that I was exercising almost every day the same sequence you tought me and I had my period almost without pain. I really couldnt believe, it was first time in my life that I didnt take a painkiller on my first day, still cant believe, so I keep practicing, today even twice. Thank you so much.
please ask all women you teach if they dont need help with that, Cause I didnt know it is even possible, I thought it is what it is and I will suffer forever.
When I arrived at this retreat, I thought I was simply coming to learn yoga. I never imagined I would leave with a completely different understanding of life.
Being a Buddhist, I was curious about how yoga would relate to my own path. What I found was something truly beautiful. Rather than conflicting with Buddhism, yoga deepened my appreciation of it. I began to see how both paths guide us towards the same qualities, mindfulness, compassion, self-discipline, wisdom, and the cultivation of inner peace.
Bodhi (Kamal) was far more than an exceptional yoga teacher. He became a Kalyāṇa Mitta, a true spiritual friend. He took the time to understand who I was, my background, and my perspective as a Buddhist. Instead of trying to change my beliefs, he gently built upon them, allowing me to experience yoga in a way that felt natural, meaningful, and deeply transformative.
This retreat wasn’t about becoming better at yoga. It was about becoming a better human being. It taught me how to slow down, observe my mind with kindness, live with greater awareness, and approach life with more love and less attachment. I leave not only with new knowledge, but with practical habits and a renewed way of seeing both myself and the world around me.
Bodhi, thank you for your patience, your compassion, and for sharing your wisdom so generously. Your teachings have touched my heart in ways I never expected. I will always be grateful for this experience and for the positive impact you’ve had on my journey.
May you continue to inspire many more people, just as you have inspired me.
With sincere gratitude and metta From Sidath. 🙏
I had been looking for an authentic and traditional yoga teacher/guru in Sri Lanka and 3 weeks ago I met Kamal and started his ‘New Yogi’ 2-week program, which at the end turned into 3 weeks, as I wanted to stay longer and deepen into it more.
It was a big journey inwards for learning, realization, sharing, growth, processing and leveling up in life.
I’m very grateful to him for the knowledge, experience and energy I have gained during those days.
He also helped me to gain confidence as a yoga teacher and believe in my abilities and skills.
Thank you, Kamal for the new change you brought to my life.
This person is amazing and his way of teaching yoga and sharing much more you can ever imagine from someone you meet for the first time is soooo charming! I’ve been visiting his classes for 2 months or more while staying in Mirissa.
Come in the morning if you want more practice and at sunset time if you need something easy. Pranayama, asanas and meditation are working together for the best. Kamal is definitely my big love from Sri Lanka!
Kamal is a truly wonderful and knowledgeable yoga teacher who is very experienced and authentic. The location with the sea view is dreamy. His morning classes are a perfect way to start the holiday.
While the evening classes with the perfect sunset in the background is a great way to unwind. Ended up going daily during the holiday as the benefits to mind body and soul are immense. A truly spiritual yogi whose classes I would not hesitate to recommend. Do try them when you are in Mirissa!
I had the opportunity to take many of Kamal’s yoga classes, and every single one left me feeling inspired, more grounded, and deeply connected to myself.
Kamal teaches traditional Hatha Yoga with incredible authenticity and presence. You can truly feel that he lives what he teaches.
What makes his classes so special is the beautiful integration of yoga philosophy. It’s not just about the physical practic, it’s about understanding the deeper meaning of yoga and bringing those teachings into everyday life. This made every class feel very authentic and meaningful.
His meditations were especially transformative for me. They created a space where I could slow down, reconnect, and experience a profound sense of peace. His chakra meditations were my absolute favorite and something I will carry with me long after leaving.
I’m deeply grateful to have learned from Kamal. If you’re looking for a teacher who shares yoga from the heart, honors its traditional roots, and creates a truly inspiring and welcoming space, I couldn’t recommend him more highly.
Highly recommend the classes here for those who really want to learn and practice authentic yoga in Mirissa! Kamal is one of the most caring and knowledgeable teacher I’ve ever met. Thanks for teaching me the proper breathwork and meditation techniques, and also helped correct the asana i’d been doing incorrectly. It was a great experience, would definitely join the classes when i visit Mirissa again!
I practise yoga for many years in west and experience the traditional yoga was life changing. Kamal is an amazing teacher, explains philosophy, gives insights to real yoga. I enjoyed morning yoga and yoga retreat was astonishing experience! I recommend to everyone, who want to find something new about themselves or what to do in life to take a part in his retreat 🧘🏽♀️
